Some old news about Lynn Oberlander (sorry for the delay)

Some big news about classmate Lynn Oberlander!  Looks like we have a new social media leader in our midst.   Congratulations, Lynn!

February 07, 2014 01:31 PM Eastern Standard Time NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--First Look Media, the news organization created by Pierre Omidyar, today announced that Lynn Oberlander has joined the team as general counsel for media operations. “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to help launch a brand-new digital news operation that has the First Amendment at its core” Oberlander comes to First Look from The New Yorker, where she spent the past seven years as general counsel. In her new role at First Look, she will draw from her more than 20 years of experience to provide legal counsel and direction in all aspects of the organization’s media operations.

An Update from Edward Schwartz

After two extremely rewarding years in New York City, working as a jury consultant for TrialGraphix, I have moved back to my beloved Boston. I am still in the jury consulting game and have revived my solo practice for now. But keep a look out for an announcement on this front very soon! I guess I had to come back to Boston to finally go to a Yankee home game -- the season finale at Fenway Park, which was Derek Jeter's final game. What a strange experience to sit in Fenway surrounded by Yankee fans. It was actually a very nice moment in a very disappointing season for the Red Sox. So, all you Beantown Yalies, hit me up when you get a chance.

Yalie.com covers Bettina Siegel's latest work

Have you seen www.yalie.com?  If you haven't, you should.

It is a great relatively new website that highlights the goings on of Yalies -- those who publish, those who make news, and those who are doing pretty cool things.  They also send out a newsletter, if you sign up.

Yalie.com had the good sense to feature out very own Bettina Siegel in its latest e-newsletter.

Here's what they had to say:

Bettina Siegel ’87
In early 2010, Bettina Siegel ‘87launched The Lunch Tray, a widely read blog on children and food. The blog has been recognized by Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution as a “Blog of the Month,” by Rachel Ray’s Yum-O! Foundation and was voted a Circle of Moms “Top 25 Foodie Mom” blog.  Select Lunch Tray posts also appear regularly on The Huffington Post and Civil Eats. In 2012, Siegel launched a Change.orgpetition which quickly garnered over 250,000 signatures and led the USDA to change its policy on “lean, finely textured beef” (aka “pink slime”) in school food ground beef.   With two other food advocates, Siegel is now leading a second campaign targeting the importation of chicken from China. This petition has also gone viral and currently has over 325,000 signatures. Siegel has also authored and illustrated a free, rhyming kids’ video about processed food, “Mr. Zee’s Apple Factory,” which has been widely viewed and used by teachers in the U.S. and internationally as part of their nutrition education curricula.
